Clucking Oinks
Sunday 21st May 2023
A food stall at Spark has announced they’re opening their first restaurant in York. It will open at 1 Castlegate, the previous home of vegan restaurant Source, a locally sourced fresh food restaurant.

Source closed in Castlegate, York, as they were unable to run the business and sustain a healthy family life only weeks after its owners announced it was up for sale.

Clucking Oinks moved into the open space. They serve up delicious fried chicken – with chicken strips and burgers, as well as loaded fries and sides such as halloumi fries.

The restaurant will have an extended menu with the fried chicken remaining as their traditionally loved pieces.
Clucking Oinks began as a food truck in 2016, before it became one of the first stalls at Spark in 2018 – where they still trade successfully. They are the last of Spark’s inaugural traders.

The branch in Spark will remain open despite the move with events such as Wing Wednesdays, with a different wing each week such as Korean BBQ.
Clucking Oinks joins a long line of Spark vendors who have found a permanent restaurant residence in York.
The Clucking Oinks has received overwhelming support from everyone, including suppliers, customers and family and friends.
